Caleb grew up in a small town in East Texas and studied graphic design at the University of North Texas. After years of working as a designer, he taught himself to paint in oils.

He paints portraits—old baseball players with weathered faces, beloved pets with gray muzzles, family members who matter. He’s drawn to people and animals who’ve got stories in how they carry themselves.

Caleb works with a modified Zorn palette because he'd rather figure out the light than deal with fifty tubes of paint he'll never touch. He's always after that unguarded moment when someone's just themselves—the quiet thing that makes them who they are.

Caleb doesn't have patience for people being too precious about art—either a painting works, or it doesn't. His measure of what matters is simple. When you look at it, do you recognize something true?

If you are interested in having a portrait painted, tell him about your person or your animal. Why they matter. What you see when you look at them. He looks forward to hearing from you.
